The Minerals Commission is set for a leadership shake-up as Isaac Tandoh, Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Small-scale and Industrial Minerals, has been appointed Acting Chief Executive Officer, effective September 16, 2025.
The announcement was made by Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Yusif Sulemana, on behalf of sector Minister Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, during a joint management and staff meeting on September 2, 2025.
Isaac Tandoh’s appointment follows the reassignment of the current CEO, Martin Kwaku Ayisi, to the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, where he will serve as Technical Advisor.
According to the Ministry, the reassignment underscores the government’s recognition of Mr. Ayisi’s vast expertise in mining regulation, governance, and institutional reforms—skills it intends to directly leverage at the ministry level.
With more than 23 years of leadership experience in the mining industry, Mr. Tandoh has held senior roles including Mine Manager in several large-scale mining companies before joining the Commission.
In his acceptance remarks, the incoming Acting CEO praised Mr. Ayisi’s achievements and pledged continuity and growth.
“I remain committed to building on the foundation laid by Mr. Ayisi and steering the Commission towards its next phase of growth,” he stated.
Deputy Minister Sulemana commended Mr. Ayisi for his dedicated service and urged staff to remain focused and cooperative during the transition.
The Commission, in a statement, expressed gratitude to Mr. Ayisi for his service and assured Mr. Tandoh of its full support as he assumes his new role.
