The Government of Ghana has expressed support for US President Donald Trump’s proposed peace framework aimed at resolving the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, issued on November 30, Ghana reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to global peace, stability and principles of international cooperation, while welcoming President Trump’s proposed peace plan as a constructive approach to ending the prolonged conflict.
The government further highlighted its belief that initiatives that prioritize dialogue, mutual respect, and the cessation of hostilities deserve serious consideration from the international community.
“The proposed framework underscores the importance protecting civilian lives, restoring territorial integrity and fostering conditions for long term reconciliation,” part of the statement read.
Drawing on the country’s established role in international peacekeeping, the Ministry shared the government’s readiness to support efforts that advance third-party peace goals, and emphasized the nation’s commitment to encouraging all parties involved in the conflict to engage in negotiations conducted in good faith, putting the welfare of people over all political differences.
The government pledged to continue working alongside regional and global partners to ensure that peace, security, and prosperity prevail across all regions of the world.
The official endorsement comes as various international actors continue to seek diplomatic pathways to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict nearly four years after its escalation.
