In a heartfelt video message, Denise Lady Ama Saah Fosu has confirmed that the funeral of her late father, Highlife legend Daddy Lumba, will take place on December 13 in Kumasi, calling on fans and well-wishers to join the family in honouring his legacy.
Denise, the musician’s eldest child, delivered the announcement in a video filmed at Daddy Lumba’s East Legon residence shortly after her arrival in Ghana on November 30. Dressed in mourning attire and accompanied by an elderly man as well as two younger siblings children of Lumba’s second wife, Odo Broni she addressed the public with calm dignity.
“Hello, my name is Denise Lady Ama Saah Fosu, the eldest daughter of the late Charles Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba,” she began. “On behalf of my entire family, we would like to invite you to my father’s funeral, which comes off on 13th December in Kumasi. We welcome all well-wishers and mourners to join us in celebrating his life.”
The confirmation follows the recent adjustment of the funeral date from December 6 to December 13, a decision reached during a November 10 meeting at the Otumfuo Saamanhene Palace. During that meeting, a new funeral committee was appointed, while the musician’s sister, Ernestina Akosua Brempomaa, requested a postmortem to investigate concerns surrounding his passing.
Denise’s message stands as a unifying public gesture amid ongoing legal disputes and family tensions involving burial arrangements, marital recognition, and the late artist’s estate. Her invitation signals a collective effort to honour Daddy Lumba’s memory despite the months of controversy surrounding his death.
