The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of two individuals linked to a motorbike robbery that took place at Sibakon Down near Comet Estate in the Eastern Region.
In a statement released on February 17, 2026, the Eastern Regional Police Command said the incident occurred on January 18, 2026, targeting an okada rider who had been hired for a trip. The main suspect, 31-year-old Kwabla Egblorgbe Gadoglo Mohammed, also known as Moha, was apprehended at his hideout in Afienya on February 13, 2026.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Mohammed and a now-deceased accomplice hired okada rider Muntari Zakari for a trip from Kwabenya to Sibakon Hospital. During the ride, the suspects allegedly attacked Zakari with a locally made pistol and a stone, stealing his iPhone 13 Pro and demanding the key to his unregistered Royal motorbike.
The victim raised an alarm, which reportedly led to the lynching of one of the suspects, while Mohammed fled with the stolen phone. A subsequent search of his Abokobi residence recovered items including a cutter, scissors, hammers, a hacksaw, a cutlass, a jackknife, a saw, and three mobile phones.
Further investigations led to the arrest of 37-year-old Kwame Accolor, also known as Small Kidi, in Anyako, Volta Region. Police said he allegedly bought the stolen iPhone 13 Pro for GH¢800. Efforts are ongoing to recover the locally manufactured pistol used in the robbery.
“The accused persons have been brought before court,” the police statement said, noting that sentencing for Mohammed, who pleaded guilty to robbery, has been postponed to March 10, 2026. The Eastern Regional Police Command reaffirmed its dedication to intelligence-led operations to protect public safety.
