The National Service Authority (NSA) has sought to calm concerns among thousands of national service personnel over delayed allowances, assuring them that all outstanding payments will be settled by the end of this week. The Authority attributed the delay to an ongoing verification exercise by Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems Limited (GhIPSS), which it says is necessary to guarantee accuracy and financial integrity.
In a statement dated February 17, 2026, and signed by Director-General Ruth Dela Seddoh, the NSA reiterated its commitment to paying all arrears owed to eligible service personnel, acknowledging the importance of the stipends to young graduates undertaking their mandatory national service.
Management explained that while the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department had already released enough funds last week to cover two months’ allowances, disbursement has been temporarily held up due to the verification process. The Authority stressed that the funds are available, but payments cannot be completed until the required checks by GhIPSS are finalised.
The NSA expressed appreciation for the patience and resilience shown by service personnel during the delay, noting that their contribution to national development is highly valued.
It further gave a firm assurance that all verified and legitimate arrears would be paid by the close of the week, providing a clear timeline for affected personnel. The Authority also promised to keep stakeholders informed through its official communication platforms.
The announcement offers relief to thousands of service personnel nationwide who have been facing financial pressure as a result of the delayed allowances, which many rely on for their daily upkeep during the service year.
