Another product of Ghana’s Right to Dream Academy is attracting serious European attention, with Bundesliga outfit Freiburg sending scouts to monitor 19-year-old winger Prince Amoako Jr ahead of a potential summer swoop.
Freiburg’s representatives were in the stands over the weekend as Amoako Jr announced himself with the opening goal in Nordsjælland’s 2-1 Danish Superliga victory over Viborg FF, a performance that will have done little to cool the German side’s interest.
The teenager has been one of the more eye-catching players in Denmark this season, registering seven goals and five assists in what has been a breakout campaign. At 19, he is developing at a pace that is beginning to draw comparisons with the celebrated alumni who walked a similar path before him.
Right to Dream’s conveyor belt of talent has become one of African football’s most compelling stories. Mohammed Kudus, Kamaldeen Sulemana and Simon Adingra all passed through the academy’s gates before making their names at the highest level in Europe. Amoako Jr is the latest in that line, and if Freiburg’s interest translates into a move, he would be following a well-worn trail from Farum to the continent’s top leagues.
His next opportunity to press his case comes on May 1, when Nordsjælland face Aarhus Gymnastikforening, another stage, another audience, and potentially more scouts in attendance.
Beyond the club transfer window, a bigger stage looms. Ghana head into the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama, carrying the ambition of reaching the knockout rounds for the first time since 2010. Head coach Carlos Queiroz is expected to name his squad by June 1, and with competition for places intensifying, Amoako Jr’s form in Denmark places him squarely in the conversation.
For a player still two months from his twentieth birthday, the trajectory is hard to ignore.
