Two people have been confirmed dead and three others are in critical condition after armed robbers attacked a mobile money vendor at Fufulso Junction.
The robbery reportedly occurred around 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2026, when the assailants targeted the vendor while he was serving a customer.
Reports indicate that the attackers opened fire during the incident, shooting both the mobile money operator and the customer who had come to make a transaction. The victims were rushed to a hospital but died before arriving.
Three additional individuals who sustained gunshot wounds during the attack are currently receiving treatment at Buipe District Hospital, where health officials say they remain in critical condition.
The incident has sparked tension in the community. Later that night, some youth in the area allegedly set several houses belonging to residents in Fufulso ablaze.
Security personnel have since been deployed to the area to restore order and prevent further unrest. Authorities say officers are maintaining a presence at the junction to protect lives and property.
Residents have been urged to stay calm as investigations into the robbery and the subsequent disturbances continue.
