The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced guidelines for its constituency-level elections scheduled for Saturday, October 24, prohibiting tally voting for eight positions and making valid identification mandatory for all delegates.
The party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, outlined the rules at a press briefing on Thursday, October 22, stressing that all aspirants, delegates and election officials must adhere strictly to the prescribed procedures.
Under the guidelines, delegates are required to present a valid voter ID card, Ghana Card or the party’s plastic membership ID card for verification before they can vote.
Mr Kwetey said election officials must apply the identification requirement uniformly, warning that no delegate should be permitted to bypass the verification process or receive preferential treatment.
He further directed that ballots for the women’s and youth conferences be kept safely and counted only after voting in the main constituency executive elections had concluded.
The guidelines also prohibit tally voting for eight positions, requiring each delegate to cast only one vote for each of those positions.
Mr Kwetey emphasised that the rules were binding on all participants, cautioning against any conduct that could compromise the credibility and fairness of the elections.
“We expect all participants to comply fully with them. Ignorance of the rules will not justify attempts to circumvent them and no aspirants or delegates should seek an advantage through practices that compromise the fairness of the process,” he said.
