MTN Ghana has brought in Esi Mmirba Wilson to lead its human resources function, naming her Chief Human Resources Officer, effective April 15, 2026, a hire the company is framing as central to its long-term growth blueprint.
Wilson arrives with over two decades of experience spanning people strategy, organisational transformation and culture change across multiple industries. She is perhaps best known for her role during Ghana’s banking sector consolidation, where she oversaw the integration of seven banks, managing the recruitment, transition and cultural realignment of more than 2,500 employees through one of the sector’s most complex restructuring periods.
Her academic and professional credentials are equally extensive. She holds an MBA in Human Resource Management from the University of Ghana and a BA in Publishing Studies from KNUST, and carries certifications across change management, agile HR, retail banking and alternative dispute resolution, among others.
At MTN Ghana, Wilson will be responsible for shaping the company’s talent development, workforce planning, organizational effectiveness and culture transformation, all in service of the telco’s Ambition 2030 strategy.
Chief Executive Officer Stephen Blewett said the appointment was a deliberate one. “Esi brings a wealth of experience in leading complex people transformations and building high-performing organisations. Her strong leadership, deep expertise in change management, and passion for people development make her well-positioned to lead MTN Ghana’s human resource function as we continue to execute our Ambition 2030 strategy,” he said.
