The Municipal Chief Executive for La Nkwantanang-Madina, Ibrahim Fiala Fuseini, has announced that the owner of the storey building that collapsed at Adenta will be arrested.
According to him, the developer had earlier been warned not to continue with the project because the structure’s pillars were considered inadequate to support a one-storey building.
The building collapse claimed one life and left four other people injured.
Speaking to Citi News, Mr. Fuseini said the developer would also bear the cost of clearing the rubble from the site.
“The developer will be arrested. I’ve spoken to the commander before coming here, and then I’m going to talk to her again that they should find where the man is. We have his name and his contacts, so we are going to use that as contact tracing to get him arrested,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Director of Technical Services at the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly, Justice Tengey, disclosed that debris from the collapsed building is expected to be cleared today.
The Commander of the Legon District Fire Station, Abdulai Salia, also confirmed that investigations have begun to establish the exact cause of the collapse.
