Revoke licence, prosecute teacher in viral Bole SHS scandal – NCPTA to GES
The National Council of Parent-Teacher Associations (NCPTA) has demanded stringent sanctions against a teacher at Bole Senior High School in the Savannah Region over allegations of sexual misconduct involving a student.
The call follows the circulation of a viral video that allegedly shows the teacher engaged in an inappropriate sexual relationship with a female student, triggering widespread public concern and renewed discussions about student protection in schools.
Speaking to Citi News, NCPTA General Secretary Raphael Kofi Gapson strongly condemned the alleged act, describing it as both a serious abuse of trust and a grave violation of professional ethics.
According to him, should investigations confirm the allegations, the teacher should face criminal prosecution, be dismissed from the Ghana Education Service (GES), and have his professional teaching licence revoked to prevent him from working in the education sector again.
“This is a betrayal of trust and a crime against humanity,” Mr. Gapson stated, adding that the individual should be denied the opportunity to practise with a certificate issued by the National Teaching Council.
The NCPTA also urged the Ghana Education Service to rigorously enforce its Sexual Harassment Guidelines to help prevent similar incidents and ensure the safety and wellbeing of students.
Mr. Gapson stressed that the strict implementation of existing policies is essential to protecting children and upholding standards of discipline and professionalism within schools.
Meanwhile, the teacher has been interdicted while investigations into the matter continue.
