The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced an expedited exercise to replace Ghanaian passports that were lost or damaged during the recent floods that affected several parts of the country.
In a press release issued on Friday, July 3, the Ministry expressed its deepest sympathies to individuals and families affected by the devastating floods, which resulted in the loss of lives and widespread destruction of property.
“The Ministry is aware of the catastrophic consequences, including loss of lives and destruction of properties. We extend our sincere and deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased,” the statement said.
The Ministry also reaffirmed its solidarity with all affected Ghanaians, acknowledging that many victims may have lost their passports or had them damaged as a result of the flooding.
To ease the burden on affected persons, the Ministry said it has introduced an expedited replacement process for all passports lost or damaged due to the disaster.
Individuals whose passports were affected are required to contact the Ministry between Friday, July 3 and Friday, July 17, 2026, via the dedicated hotline 055 936 8563.
Applicants will be asked to provide their full name, date of birth, and gender exactly as they appear on the lost or damaged passport. They are also expected to provide a contact telephone number to facilitate communication during the replacement process.
According to the Ministry, all qualifying lost and damaged passports will be replaced within one week.
The Ministry reiterated its commitment to supporting the government’s recovery efforts and assured affected citizens that it will continue to stand with them during the difficult period.
The announcement forms part of measures aimed at helping flood victims recover essential travel and identification documents as communities work to rebuild following the disaster.
