The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has recovered the body of an 11-year-old boy who drowned at Adenta Aviation in the Greater Accra Region after an extensive search and rescue operation.
The victim, identified as Samuel Awalime, was retrieved by personnel from the Adenta Fire Station after the Service received a distress call reporting the drowning incident.
A rescue team led by Divisional Officer III (DO III) Obosu responded promptly to the scene and worked alongside other emergency responders to search for the missing child.
The operation, carried out on Monday, July 13, lasted several hours before firefighters successfully recovered the boy’s body from the water.
According to the GNFS, the body has been handed over to the Adenta Police Division to facilitate investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Fire Service has not provided details on how the drowning occurred, while police continue inquiries to determine the cause of the tragedy.
