The Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has taken delivery of one million barrels of Ghana’s Jubilee Medium Sweet Crude, a move aimed at strengthening its refining operations.
The shipment, delivered by the vessel MT Apache, arrived on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, representing another milestone in efforts to revive the country’s only state-owned refinery.
In a statement issued on Thursday, July 16, TOR said the steady supply of crude oil is essential for sustaining its production levels.
The refinery noted that the deliveries have enabled it to continue producing petroleum products for both the Ghanaian and regional markets, supporting the country’s energy security agenda while advancing industrialisation and local value addition.
The latest shipment is the second consignment of locally produced crude supplied to TOR under the current administration.
It also follows earlier deliveries of one million barrels each of Bonga and Baleine crude since May 2026, bringing the total to three major consignments received over the past three months.
TOR said refining Ghana’s own crude locally would help stabilise the domestic fuel market and enhance the country’s ambition of becoming a leading refining hub in West Africa.
The refinery commended President John Dramani Mahama for his continued support and leadership, and praised Energy and Green Transition Minister John Abdulai Jinapor for his role in driving the restoration of refining activities.
TOR reaffirmed its commitment to deepening collaboration between Ghana’s upstream and downstream petroleum sectors to maximise value from the country’s natural resources.
