Four killed, several injured in Aboso explosion

Four people have been killed and several others injured following an explosion involving suspected explosives at Aboso in the Prestea Huni Valley Municipality of Ghana’s Western Region.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, August 4, with eyewitnesses claiming the blast happened after an attempt to shoot a snake accidentally triggered explosives allegedly stored near a fuel station at Breman.
An eyewitness said residents were alarmed by a powerful explosion, with some initially mistaking the sound for an earthquake.
According to the eyewitness, a man believed to be involved in the explosives trade had reportedly concealed some of the materials near a gas station in Breman.
He alleged that workers associated with the owner of the explosives were nearby when they spotted a snake and attempted to kill it with a gun.
The eyewitness said the bullet missed the snake but struck the explosives, causing a massive blast that killed people in the area.
Four people died in the explosion, while several others suffered injuries. The incident also triggered panic among residents, many of whom fled the area.
Emergency teams were deployed to the scene to assist the injured and secure the area.
The exact circumstances surrounding the storage of the explosives and what caused the blast have not yet been officially established. Authorities are expected to investigate the incident to determine what happened.
