Movie lights nearly damaged my eyes — Agya Koo
Veteran Kumawood actor Kofi Adu, popularly known as Agya Koo, has disclosed that years of exposure to intense lighting during movie productions affected his eyesight and left him experiencing blurred vision.
The actor said his vision deteriorated to the point where he became concerned and decided to seek medical attention.
Speaking in an interview with Lawson TV on August 23, Agya Koo explained that the bright lights used on film sets had taken a toll on his eyes after years of acting.
He recalled that he began seeing things unclearly and eventually visited a hospital to determine whether he had developed an eye condition.
According to him, medical examinations showed that there was no underlying problem with his eyes. However, doctors advised him to be cautious about the type of lighting used during film production.
Agya Koo also addressed claims about his earnings during his years in the movie industry. He revealed that while living and working in Accra, he received about GH¢4,000, but said he never charged Miracle Films a fixed fee for the movies he appeared in.
He explained that after completing a production, the company would simply give him whatever amount had been agreed or was available, rather than paying him a predetermined acting fee.
