The Ghana Police Service is investigating the death of 33-year-old Enoch Abrokwa, who allegedly died after being stabbed by his 19-year-old girlfriend during a disagreement at Ofankor Barrier in Accra.
According to a statement issued by the Regional Public Affairs Unit of the Police Service on October 21, 2026, the Tesano Divisional Police Command is handling the case.
Preliminary investigations suggest that an argument broke out between Mr Abrokwa and the suspect at his business premises on Friday, October 9, 2026. Police say the disagreement allegedly escalated, resulting in the suspect stabbing him in the chest with a piece of broken glass.
Mr Abrokwa was initially taken to a hospital at Taifa-Burkina before being referred to Ridge Hospital in Accra. He underwent surgery for a deep wound that affected his intestines but died on October 14, 2026, while receiving treatment.
Suspect arrested and remanded
The police statement identified the suspect as Emmanuella Asante, who was arrested on October 10, a day after the incident. She was reportedly brought to the police by the complainant and three other individuals.
Police said Ms Asante allegedly admitted to stabbing Mr Abrokwa and remains in custody as investigations continue.
She has appeared before the court and was remanded into police custody. She is expected to return to court on November 3, 2026.
The Accra Regional Police Command has urged the public to settle disputes peacefully and avoid violence. It also appealed to the public to cooperate with investigators as the case proceeds in accordance with the law.
The statement was signed by Chief Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region.
