The Ghana Armed Force and the Ghana Police Service have deployed armed men on the Bolgatanga – Walewale – Tamale highway and Bawku following the killing of eight travelers on the road in what is believed to be an escalation of the Bawku conflict.
A statement from the Ghana Police Service assured Ghanaians that both the Service and the Military are committed to maintaining peace, security, law and order in Bawku and its environs.
The gunmen according to reports stopped vehicles using the road last night and proceeded to identify people killing eight and setting ablaze some vehicles.
“The security agencies would like to once again assure the public that we are committed to maintaining peace, security, law and order in Bawku and its environs,” the statement said.
