President John Dramani Mahama has said that his government will ensure the timely completion and operationalization of the Sewua Hospital in the Ashanti region.
Speaking at the first Akwasidae celebration of the year, at the Manhyia Palace yesterday, Sunday, January 19, 2025, the President acknowledged some critical issues affecting the Sewua Hospital and highlighted the importance of ensuring the completion of the 250-bed hospital.
The President said the Sewua Hospital played a major role in reducing pressure at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital which would facilitate fast renovations of some facilities of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
“We need to move some of the patients from Komfo Anokye to Sewua so that we can empty the infrastructure in Komfo Anokye and do the necessary renovations. It is difficult to do the renovations of Komfo Anokye when the hospital is working at full capacity.”
President John Dramani Mahama noted that the Sewua Hospital was not functioning because the road leading to the hospital was in bad condition, there was no water and electricity to aid in the effective administration of healthcare. He promised to tackle these problems immediately.
“The Sewua Hospital is not operational because there is no electricity, there is no water, and the road to the hospital has not been constructed. I wish to assure you that we will tackle it immediately and make sure that we can open the doors of that hospital so that it will ease the pressure on Komfo Anokye”.
