Former Member of Parliament for Assin Central and NPP flagbearer-hopeful, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is set to formally file his nomination to contest the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, his camp has announced.
The filing will take place at the party’s National Party Headquarters in Accra, and will in effect, make him the first candidate to file nomination forms for the upcoming primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.
An official statement from the former MP’s camp describes his bid as “a bold declaration of his determination to secure victory for the NPP in 2028,” and a direct appeal to the general populace to rally behind him, promising a leadership rooted in patriotism, honesty, and discipline.
The announcement further outlined Kennedy Agyapong’s vision, pledging “a future where promises are honored, ideas are turned into results, and our nation delivers lasting prosperity for its citizens.”
On August 5, a group of NPP MPs, including Kwaku Kwarteng (Obuasi West), Charles Forson (Tema West), Stephen Amoah (Nhyiaeso), and Lawrence Agyinsam (Hemang Lower Denkyira), picked up forms on his behalf, as reported by myjoyonline.com
The upcoming primaries will see the former MP go head-to-head with other prominent figures within the party, including former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and the Member of Parliament for Abetifi, Dr. Bryan Acheampong.
