The Presidency has announced that more than GHS 8.6 million and US$20,000 have been raised through donations to the Children’s Support Fund established following the tragic helicopter crash on August 6, 2025. The fund was created to support the welfare, education, and psychological care of children who lost parents or guardians in the incident.
The helicopter crash, which claimed several lives, triggered national mourning and a widespread call to action to assist the affected families, particularly the children left vulnerable by the tragedy.
In its fifth official update released today, the Office of the President provided details of donations received between 23 September and 12 October 2025. The update affirms the government’s ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in the management of the fund.
According to the update, donations have come from both individuals and institutions, reflecting strong national solidarity. The funds are being coordinated through the Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited, with dedicated accounts set up for contributions in both Ghana Cedis and US Dollars.
Cheques and bank drafts should be made payable to CHILDREN SUPPORT FUND 6825, and Mobile Money (MoMo) contributions are also accepted via approved platforms.
Dr. Valerie Sawyerr, Senior Presidential Advisor on Governmental Affairs and Coordinator of the Fund, expressed appreciation to all donors and encouraged continued public support to secure the future of the children affected by the tragedy.
“This is a national responsibility. Every cedi helps us protect the dreams and futures of these children,” she said.
The fund remains open for further contributions from individuals, corporate bodies, and international partners.
