Indigenous ride-hailing service Mijo is set for its official launch on May 1, 2026, following several weeks of a successful pilot phase on the GhanaPost GPS platform.
The rollout represents a new layer of innovation within the GhanaPost GPS ecosystem, allowing users not only to locate addresses but also to request rides and arrange deliveries directly through the app.
Mijo aims to provide a dependable, easy-to-use, and cost-effective transport option for riders, while also opening up sustainable income opportunities for drivers.
During the pilot stage, the service offered free and discounted rides to students, healthcare workers, and other professionals across Accra, while drivers benefited from timely payments and responsive customer support.
A standout feature of the platform is its driver-focused model, which offers more favourable commission rates than many competing ride-hailing services, enabling drivers to keep a larger portion of their earnings and improve their financial stability.
In addition to regular ride options, Mijo includes an executive service, giving users access to premium vehicles for a more comfortable travel experience.
The launch highlights Ghana’s growing push for locally developed digital solutions, with Mijo expected to support job creation, boost incomes, and enhance financial independence for many drivers.
With over four million downloads and more than 100,000 active users at any given time, the GhanaPost GPS app provides a strong user base to support Mijo’s rapid expansion and impact.
