The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, is undertaking a three-day working visit to Morocco to strengthen bilateral trade ties and explore new investment opportunities between the two countries.
During the trip, which began on Monday, May 3, 2026, she held high-level talks with Morocco’s Minister of Investments, Convergence and Public Policy Evaluation, Karim Zidane.
Mrs Ofosu-Adjare expressed gratitude for the invitation and reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to deepening economic cooperation with Morocco, particularly in the automobile and agro-processing sectors.
She also praised Morocco’s efforts in advancing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and called for the elimination of non-tariff barriers to enhance trade between the two nations.
Highlighting Ghana’s flagship 24-Hour Economy policy, she described it as a major catalyst for industrial expansion and a tool for attracting investment.

In response, Mr Zidane pointed to King Mohammed VI’s 2017 visit to Ghana as a key milestone that strengthened bilateral relations and opened avenues for greater economic collaboration.
He urged Ghana to increase its exports to Morocco to help address the existing trade imbalance and proposed the swift organisation of a Business and Investment Forum in Ghana to boost partnerships.
The Ghanaian delegation also met with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Trade, Omar Hejira, to further discuss ways to expand trade cooperation.
Mr Hejira described Ghana as an important trade partner and noted that the visit presents a valuable opportunity to deepen economic ties.
He also highlighted Morocco’s economic progress, citing strong growth in sectors such as renewable energy, port infrastructure, finance, pharmaceuticals, human capital development, as well as the automobile and aviation industries.
