Sports Analyst Jerome Otchere
Sports analyst Jerome Otchere has cautioned Ghanaians against underrating the Black Stars as they build up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He believes the national team has shown positive progress and should receive stronger public backing as preparations continue for the tournament.
His remarks come after Ghana’s 1-1 draw with Wales in a World Cup friendly played in Cardiff on Tuesday, June 2. The Black Stars were close to securing a win but conceded a late equaliser in the third minute of stoppage time.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s “The Point of View” on Wednesday, June 3, Otchere said he was encouraged by the team’s performance and feels the players have significant potential.
He stressed that playing for the Black Stars carries immense pressure and should not be taken lightly, noting that the players gave a strong account of themselves.
Otchere also called for more friendly matches, saying additional games would help the technical team better evaluate players and identify the strongest starting lineup ahead of the World Cup.
He added that the team’s playing style appears to reflect the tactical influence of head coach Otto Addo, particularly in terms of a more defensive approach.
The Black Stars continue their preparations as they aim to build consistency and momentum ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
