Former Health Minister and former Ledzokuku MP, Dr Bernard Okoe Boye, has been elected as the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Dr Okoe Boye secured 490 votes to defeat his only contender, Alfred Boye, who obtained 172 votes in the regional executive elections held at the WAEC Hall in Tema West.
The former minister campaigned on a commitment to adopt an inclusive and service-driven leadership approach if elected.
He had previously rejected claims that he would be unwilling to tolerate differing opinions, describing the allegations as tactics used by opponents who could not challenge his competence or track record.
Dr Okoe Boye said constituency executives would play a central role in his administration, with regular engagement to identify their concerns and find practical solutions.
He argued that the traditional approach of regional leaders mainly issuing directives was no longer effective, advocating instead for leadership built on collaboration, service and closer interaction with constituency executives.
“I am coming as a Chief Servant in Accra. I am not coming as a Chairman who is going to be lord over the constituency executives. I am going to get closer to them and get to know what they need,” he said.
Madam Joan was elected First Vice Chairperson, while Prince Obeng secured the position of Second Vice Chairman.
The newly elected regional executives are expected to oversee the NPP’s reorganisation and grassroots mobilisation in Greater Accra as the party works to strengthen its structures and improve its electoral prospects ahead of the 2028 general elections.
