Two security guards accused in a case involving a 14-year-old student of Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School have been granted bail by the Bolgatanga Circuit Court as investigations continue.
The court admitted the two men to bail of GH¢100,000 each with two sureties, one of whom must be a salaried worker earning at least GH¢3,000 monthly. They are also required to report regularly to the police pending the next hearing.

The case has drawn attention in the Upper East Region after allegations emerged that the student, a first-year boarder at the school, had been subjected to sexual abuse over a period of time.
According to information presented in court, school authorities became aware of the matter after questions were raised about a mobile phone found in the student’s possession. Subsequent inquiries reportedly led to claims that the device had been given to her by one of the accused men.
Investigators allege that the relationship between the student and the two security guards extended beyond the gift and involved conduct that later became the subject of a police complaint.
The matter was reported by a member of the school’s management team, leading to the arrest of the suspects and the opening of a criminal investigation.

When the two men reappeared before the court this week, the judge did not take their pleas but granted them bail while prosecutors continue to gather evidence.
The case is expected to return to court on September 17.
