Ghanaian actor and politician John Dumelo is mourning the loss of his father, Engineer John William Kudzo Anato-Dumelo Snr., who passed away at the age of 75.
In a heartfelt social media post, Dumelo recounted their final moments together, sharing that his father had called him several times to visit. They spent time discussing politics, life, farming, and business. His father also advised him to “serve diligently in government” ahead of his upcoming swearing-in ceremony as the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon.
Tragically, just ten minutes after leaving his father’s side, Dumelo was informed that his father was unresponsive. Despite rushing him to the hospital, his father passed away shortly after admission. Dumelo expressed profound gratitude for his father’s unwavering support, referring to him as his “best friend” and “number one cheerleader.” He concluded his tribute with a poignant farewell, asking his father to “say hi to mum for us all” and expressing that they will miss him deeply.
This loss comes just days before Dumelo’s scheduled swearing-in as a Member of Parliament, marking a significant moment in his political career.
